Cardiology is a medical term for the study of the structure, function and disorders of the heart. It focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of health problems related to the arteries, heart, and veins that together as a whole forms the cardiovascular system. Jobs in cardiology are generally found in hospitals and clinics where they diagnose and treat patients suffering from hearted-related problems. They also treat those patients who are reeling under pulmonary embolism, hypertension, vascular disease, congenital heart disease and arrhythmias. Cardiologists provide emergency treatment to those who suffer from heart attacks. They are actively involved when the patients are undergoing cardiac transplants or heart surgery.

Educational qualifications A cardiologist is a medical professional who deals with heart-related problems. For becoming a cardiologist, one needs to obtain a four- year-graduate degree from a recognized and approved medical school. There are many countries, which offer pre -medical specialized undergraduate training. Apart from a graduation degree from a medical school, most countries require that a student must have an internal medicine residency and must have completed an internal medical certificate exam.
